Update on Tony [ original post here ]:
Tony has suffered a severe cut while at the boarding kennel and required surgery to repair it. He desperately needs a foster home where he can recuperate. Please, if there is anything you can do to help this fantastic guy out...
Tony's Story
Once upon a time I had a home and a family, but the home was not a happy one. The man had a very bad temper. I tried really hard to please him but no matter how hard I tried it wasn’t good enough. I didn’t understand because I have always believed that people and dogs are friends but the man resented me. One day he got very very angry. I don’t know why. I’m a dog and I don’t tend to let things bother me. He went into a rage like a wild animal. I was scared and tried to hide but he found me anyway. When he did he took a baseball bat and struck me on the head.
I saw stars but not like the ones in the night sky. Everything went black and I thought I would wake up in Heaven but I did not die. I did not die because there is still that heart in me that believes there are very good people out there and my mission is to have a home with those kind of people and know true human love for the first time in my life.
My skull fracture healed without complications. The man got into big trouble for he did to me but while he was getting in big trouble I had to live in a kennel. I was finally released to a private rescue where they are working very hard to find me a home.
The volunteers are so very kind to me. They do not hurt me but praise me and play with me and I find that I am pleasing to them. The volunteers cannot adopt me.
This is the kind of home I need: I need a home where I am the only dog and the people will love me and be very patient with me. I am a bright boy and love to learn and I love people, even after what happened to me, I can forgive. I need a home without cats because I really like to give them a bad time and they don’t like that very much.
I need YOU. I know you are out there, hurting and wanting a companion who understands what it feels like to be lonely, for I am very lonely without a home. I know the pain of rejection but I also know love will cover it all. Will YOU be the one to step in and give me the home that I dream about all day and all night? I look for it in the face of every person I meet. If I could speak I would beg them to give me a chance. I know you need ME too, whoever you are.
My name is Tony; I’m four years old with so much life and love to give if you will just give me the opportunity.
